Plymouth 400 invites you to #IlluminateNOW!

Post your #IlluminateNOW videos and photos on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or whichever social media platform you’re mostly comfortable with.  Or, feel free to email us at info@Plymouth400inc.org with your message and image or video and we’ll do the posting for you. Pro tip from PACTV (Plymouth Area Community Television): hold your phone horizontally when recording videos for best results. And if you want them shared set your post to “public”.  Join us in spreading some hope when it’s needed most.

Background information:

For the past several Novembers, Plymouth 400 has held the “Illuminate Thanksgiving” event to encourage people to “give thanks and give back” to their communities, their country and their world. This year, the spirit of that event is being brought online and it’s starting NOW!

The “One Small Candle” award is given annually during that event to young people who have – like Pilgrim Governor Bradford’s quote evokes – been that one small candle that may light a thousand. Plymouth 400 is asking people everywhere to light that first theoretical candle now and talk about what you’re doing in this time of crisis that positively impacts others (safety first: battery operated or electric “candles”). This could be as simple as putting up white lights as a sign of hope, following social distancing guidelines to protect others or donating to causes worthy of support at this crucial time.

Whatever that act may be, you are invited to post about it to demonstrate to the world that change doesn’t always have to come in a big, showy way but each of us, even in our own various states of confinement together can make a big impact, particularly within our own community.

Thank you to Plymouth 400 sponsors NBC 10 Boston, PACTV (Plymouth Area Community Television) as well as SYLVANIA General Lighting for their support in this initiative.
