PLYMOUTH – With considerable ceremony and fanfare, the Mayflower II began her long voyage home with its departure from Mystic Seaport, Connecticut on Monday, July 20.

After three years of reconstruction, the replica of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to Plymouth 400 years ago headed out to sea and up the coast to New London, where it will undergo two weeks of sea trials and sail training for the crew.

Escorted by tug, the Mayflower II was also accompanied by a flotilla of smaller boats as she left Mystic and later entered New London.
