Plimoth Plantation and WGBH’s Sneak Peek of The Pilgrims

The Official Website of the
Plymouth 400
Commemoration

The Plymouth 400 team was invited by our friends at Plimoth Plantation to their “A Night with the Stars” event at which we got a sneak peek at Ric Burns’ new documentary, “The Pilgrims”, which airs on Tuesday, November 24th at 8PM on PBS.

Pictured above are Ken Tavares, Chair of the Town of Plymouth Board of Selectmen and President of Plymouth 400, Inc. Ric Burns, and Michele Pecoraro, Executive Director of Plymouth 400, Inc. at last weekend’s event.
Ric shared stories of the making of “The Pilgrims” with the audience, including details on actually sailing Mayflower II out of Plymouth Harbor for some of the incredible shots you see in the trailer:

According to PBS’s pressroom, the film recounts “arguably one of the most fateful and resonant events of the last half millennium, the Pilgrims’ journey west across the Atlantic in the early 17th century”, which is a “seminal, if often misunderstood episode of American and world history.”
We couldn’t agree more! Plymouth 400 applaud’s Ric Burns and Steeplechase Films for creating a documentary that tells the whole and true story, which aligns with Plymouth 400’s mission to create a commemoration that is culturally inclusive and historically accurate. We can’t wait to watch the whole thing on November 24th (and again on Thanksgiving!)!
