Plymouth 400 to host “Seafood Smackdown” Cooking Competition and United States Coast Guard Band Concert on July 10th from 12PM-4PM in Pilgrim Memorial State Park

PLYMOUTH, MA— Plymouth 400’s second annual Seafood Smackdown cooking competition will take place this Sunday July 10th at 12:00PM in Pilgrim Memorial State Park. Immediately following, Plymouth 400 is pleased to announce that the United States Coast Guard Band will perform a free concert for the public at 2:00PM.
The day’s full program of events, all of which will take place in Pilgrim Memorial State Park, is as follows:
               12:00 PM            The Seafood Smackdown Cooking Competition, hosted by Chef Raymond Alongi from Hell’s Kitchen, kicks off at noon. Watch as two amateur chefs prepare their favorite stuffed quahog recipes and our panel of judges chooses a winner! Both stuffed quahog recipes will be available for the public to try (while supplies last) after the winner is announced, and proceeds from the sale of these stuffed quahogs will benefit Plymouth 400, courtesy of Foodzilla on Wheels.
               2:00 PM              The United States Coast Guard Band, the premier band representing the United States Department of Homeland Security, will perform a free concert in the Harbor Light Pavilion (the amphitheater in Pilgrim Memorial State Park). The conductor of the Plymouth Philharmonic, Steven Karidoyanes, will join the United States Coast Guard Band for the performance of Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide Overture” as the band’s special guest conductor.
               All Day (12:00 PM—4:00 PM)       Plymouth 400’s “Innovation Station” will offer educational activities and demonstrations, arts and crafts, and other free activities for children and families. Watch how a professional shucks an oyster, take a tour of the herring run, and learn about the history of Plymouth’s maritime industry!

**In the case of inclement weather, the United States Coast Guard Band Concert will take place in Plymouth Memorial Hall on July 10th at 2pm and all other activities will be canceled.
