The Official Website of the
Plymouth 400
Commemoration

By David Kindy, Plymouth Wicked Local:

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Pasadena, go to the Tournament of Roses Parade. That’s what Kim and Simon Corben did on New Year’s Day while visiting their son Alex, who lives in the California city near Los Angeles.

The Plymouth couple had grandstand seats along the parade route and got to see the Mayflower float up close and personal. They had offered to assist with work on the large flowery float depicting the ship the Pilgrims sailed on to New England 400 years ago but were offered the tickets instead.

Built by the California Mayflower Society, the state chapter of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, the float was the third in the annual New Year’s Day parade that is televised across the country. The goal was to bring national attention to Plymouth’s 400th anniversary commemoration in 2020 by participating in the procession.
