Support the MA 400 Line Item
We have a unique opportunity to create a lasting tourism campaign for the Commonwealth. Professionals in tourism, arts, history, and culture are working together in a creative partnership called Massachusetts 400 with the intent of leveraging the economic impact of this phenomenon to create a significant boost to the economy and a plan for long-term benefit to the Commonwealth. The continuity of this marketing plan will have a positive effect on travel to Massachusetts through leisure, business and educational travel and exchanges, adding billions in tax revenue and visitor spending for individual communities and for Massachusetts.
Representative Mat Muratore is mobilizing his colleagues in the House to file an amendment to add the Massachusetts 400 Program (MA400) as a line item to the State budget to support not only Plymouth’s 400th, but the entire series of historically significant 400th anniversaries in the Commonwealth including Quincy/Braintree 2025, Salem/North of Boston in 2026 and Boston in 2030. This line item would support each of these anniversary commemorations through the last five years of their planning and execution stages. Therefore Plymouth 400 would receive funding through the MA400 line item from 2015 – 2020. After that the funds would go on to support the planning and completion of the subsequent anniversaries as they enter the last 5 years of their planning stages. We need YOUR help in telling your local Representatives that this is an important investment in the State’s economy, as the Plymouth 400 commemoration will draw an estimated 10 million visitors to Plymouth County in 2020 alone!
