FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 2, 2015
PLYMOUTH, MA— The fourth annual Plymouth 400 Bass and Blue Fishing Tournament is introducing the inaugural “Seafood Smackdown: Best Fish Taco” contest, a live cooking competition hosted by award-winning chef Ray Alongi at Pilgrim Memorial State Park on Saturday July 11, 2015. Local amateur chefs will create their best fish taco dishes in front of a live audience, and special guest judges will determine who will win the Seafood Smackdown grand prize package.
The Seafood Smackdown is open to amateur chefs over the age of 18. To enter, contestants must submit their best fish taco recipe via email to contest@plymouth400inc.org with the subject line “Seafood Smackdown 2015 Entry”. Recipes may contain no more than ten ingredients, not including spices, and only White Fish may be used. All entries must include a creative representation of the recipe being entered, which can be in the form of a video, photo, drawing, song, etc.; Plymouth 400 encourages contestants to think outside of the box, as select creative representations will be shared on the Plymouth 400 website and social media pages. Entries must be submitted by Friday June 26, 2015 at 11:59pm EST. For a full list of contest rules, please visit our contest page online.
All Seafood Smackdown entries will be judged by Chef Ray Alongi, who has been featured on television programs such as Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay. Chef Alongi will choose the two recipes he feels are the most pleasing to taste and best represent Plymouth.  The two finalists will then compete live on July 11, 2015 at the Seafood Smackdown at Pilgrim Memorial State Park at 10am. The community is invited to watch the two contestants recreate their recipes in Foodzilla on Wheels, a 34’ full-service kitchen on wheels created and operated by Erik Christensen of Loretta LaRoche Productions and Chris Casciano, while enjoying music from Project Arts’ Plymouth Harbor Roots & Folk Festival. The winner will be chosen at 11am by a panel celebrity judges.
