Plymouth 400: License Plate Countdown – #2

The Official Website of the
Plymouth 400
Commemoration

Almost there! One number to go until the big auction of special number Plymouth 400 license plates. Get your bid in now!
J. James Auctioneer Josh Rioux holds up Plymouth 400 license plate #2. Rioux will conduct the auction.
Actor Mark Wahlberg holds the number 2 license plate as the countdown to Plymouth 400 Inc.’s special number license plate auction continues.
The number 2 is quite meaningful in Pilgrim lore. The Mayflower carried two boats, a long boat and a shallop. The speed at which the Mayflower traveled was 2 miles per hour (or 1.8 knots). Two is also the number of dogs on board the Mayflower, and the number of months the Pilgrims spent living aboard the ship before they even departed England.
Plymouth 400 Inc. is the nonprofit organization planning Plymouth’s 400th anniversary celebration in 2020. The countdown continues as it auctions off 109 special Plymouth 400 license plates with the most desired numbers, such as numbers 1-100 and 1620.
You can visit myplymouthplate.org where you will find a link to the auction site. There you can sign up for updates that notify you if someone else bids on your desired plate.
“Anyone can log onto the live auction, and, on Saturday, June 3, we host a live auction event when the auctioneer is at the front of the room and we’ll go through all 109 lots,” Plymouth 400 Inc. Communications Manager Sheila Fey said.
Rioux, of J. James Auctioneers, will conduct the auction.
You can attend the live auction, which will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, 99 Newbury St. Boston. Register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/plymouth-400-license-plate-live-auction-tickets-33084127516.
You can also bid by phone, but register first by calling J. James Auctioneers & Appraisers at 508-746-8606.

If you are unable to follow along and bid online, via telephone or in person on June 3, you may submit an absentee ballot to J. James Auctioneers & Appraisers by calling 508-746-8608.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit Plymouth’s 400th anniversary celebration in 2020.
“This auction is important,” said Plymouth 400 Inc. Executive Director Michele Pecoraro, “because not only is the auction raising funds for our 2020 Anniversary events and programs, which will engage millions of people around the globe and leave lasting legacies for generations to come, it is also an opportunity to have a rare low-numbered license plate – the only Massachusetts specialty plate honoring American history. These plates can be passed down through generations, so they’re truly an American keepsake.”
Stay tuned at the Old Colony Memorial and Wicked Local Plymouth for more featured Plymouth 400 supporters who will show off special plates in each edition leading up to the auction. It’s all to support the 400th anniversary of America’s Hometown.
